Whose Triumph?

What did Jesus' death achieve? Total victory; a triumph over sin and death: forgiveness and freedom from guilt.

We are slaves to sin, but now we can be free. We have been found guilty and worthy of death, but now we can be acquitted. We are God's enemies, but now we can be his friends.

The death of Jesus has made it possible to reverse the condition we are in, and has made a way back to the place God has always meant for us - with himself.

This is why, 2000 years later, Christians still see the death of Jesus as the single most important event in history. It is because Jesus was prepared to suffer and die, even though he did not deserve it, that we receive the love and total forgiveness of the one true God.
