How is Jesus' death a solution to sin?

If sin is the root of all the problems that afflict humanity, how can the death of one man, a carpenter who became a teacher all those years ago in a small, far-away country, be the solution to the sins of all people?

The bible says something which may sound a little strange: "Without the shedding of blood there's no forgiveness of sin". The reason the bible says this is because God is the judge and like any good judge He doesn't sweep criminal acts under the carpet. Our sin is a crime of grave magnitude and as such, God will punish it. The bible is clear : "the punishment for sin is death".

But what if someone so pure and righteous were to willingly offer his life in our place? Would that satisfy a just God? The answer is an emphatic YES!

This is why the bible says: "By His wounds we are healed".
Jesus' death on the cross was the ultimate triumph over the power of sin and death. It may be hard to grasp, but God invites us to share in Jesus' triumph.

We can experience victory over sin, our past, our guilt, our shame because they were all dealt with on that cross.
